Time goes so fast. I can’t believe in less than 3 weeks, I will be in Toronto for a week to compete for Miss Teenage Canada (www.missteenagecanada.com). I remember looking at beauty queens in the newspapers when I was young and wished one day to be part of a beauty pageant. Now I have my chance. It’s really a life chance to be part of this pageant, because Miss Teen Canada World (www.missteenagecanada.com) is the biggest beauty pageant for teens in Canada. But first, here’s the history of the amazing beauty pageant Miss Teen Canada World (www.missteenagecanada.com):
I did my little search with people I know personally. My mom told me she used to watch Miss Teen Canada religiously with my grandma. They never missed the show. She also told me she had the same dream as me; to be part of this beauty pageant, but it was hardly accessible compare to now because now we have the internet. It was really popular at the television, but less publicity as now. For more details, Miss Teen Canada or Miss Teenage Canada (it changed name by time) was create in 1969 and it still there. Now there’s not only one Teen Canada pageant, there is so many, but Miss Teenage Canada (www.missteenagecanada.com) is the biggest of all. It all started in 2008 by Michelle Weswaldi (http://www.missteenagecanada.com/about-mtcw/meet-the-team); who won many titles such as Miss World Canada 1996. It really is the best and the biggest, for all the advantages and how far can it bring the finalists to many international pageants around the world. Miss Teen Canada World (www.missteenagecanada.com) doesn’t just help teens to make change in their community, but also all over the world from Canada to Kenya.
My interest for that started in 2013. I saw publicity on Facebook about this beauty pageant. I always wished to be in a beauty pageant, but I didn’t know a lot about that last year. I decided to look at it and it was all in my interest. I remember being so excited because it was THE type of thing I was looking for: new experience/challenge, make change, represent my province and country, push my limits and for sure, being a role model. I applied on the website (http://www.missteenagecanada.com/become-mtcw/apply-now), sadly I was choose 5 days before the provincial competition. I had to find a gown, heels, swimsuit, etc. So, I refused, but I had a plan in my head. During 1 year, I work and workout hard to get ready for 2014 to apply again. In april, I applied again (http://www.missteenagecanada.com/become-mtcw/apply-now) and I got chosen! I got the title: Miss Teen Québec 2014. I think ‘’Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.’’ I want to be Miss Teenage Canada (www.missteenagecanada.com) because I want to inspire people to reach their goal and never give up. You never know how close you are to your dream. I remember, I was so sad when I had to refuse to participate in 2013, I wanted to not apply again, but I told myself that I have to try again the year after. I want to represent the multi-ethnicity. I am a proud Canadian with a big ethnic background; I am mixed Jamaican, Syrian-Lebanese, Canadian and Black-American, but I am at first a proud Canadian. Now-a-day many Canadians are mixed and I think I am a great example of that. I don’t want to represent only my communities; I want every ethnicity to be referred to me. I think I would make a great Miss Teenage Canada (http://www.missteenagecanada.com/) because I am someone with good values and ambition. I am motivated, passionate, confidante and positive. I love to give back and I never let obstacles stop me. During my childhood, I have suffered of bullying because people used to say I was different because of my hair and skin color. Bullying is a big problem in the world society and I want help young to go through that like I did. I want to support the cause for children, because everything starts when you are young. Helping children by giving them clean water, food, education and a place to sleep will make a better future.
