Hi everybody! I’m Megha Sandhu and I’m from Montreal, Quebec. On May 13, 2012 I had the honour of being crowned by former Miss Teen Quebec-World (Leelee Greene) herself and obtained the title of Miss Teen Quebec-World 2012!
As a child, I’ve always been described as a rather fervent and wild child. Actually, one of my best childhood memories entailed me dancing like a fool in front of my grandparents with a fake guitar made out of papier mâché!
Somehow, I believe that this fervent nature of mine still remains with me and that it is this nature that makes me the person that I am today. In high school, I was always known for being very studious yet also slightly nuts when it came time to performing on stage. While in high school, I participated in Science Fair where I researched the production of biomethane via NCC waste and anaerobic bacteria-earning me a gold medal and the McGill University Department of Chemical Engineering Award . In my last year, I conducted an experiment, investigating asthma where I worked alongside my mentor at the Meakins-Christie Laboratories of McGill University. These experiences have thought me the meaning of teamwork and about the hard work and dedication that goes into scientific research. I’m also really passionate about biological sciences and as such, participated in the Brain Bee Competition , where I earned 3rd place at the regional competition.

When not wrapped up in school related work, I had the honour of being M.C. and performing for my schools’ Talent Show. Being on stage is where I personally feel most comfortable and I absolutely love making people laugh!

Alongside, science fair and performing on stage, I very much enjoyed getting involved in as many sports as possible. Throughout high school, I played on six inter-scholastic teams including; soccer, basketball, cross country, track and field, flag-football and the Halo road race.
During this time, I entered a modelling competition where I won first place. The event was held at Galeries des Sources (my local mall) to promote local Montreal designers.
After this event, I got approached by ToyWatch, a local watch company to walk in their Montreal Fashion Show-which was loads of fun!
I currently just finished my first year of CEGEP in Health Sciences at Marianopolis College. When not studying, you can find me taking my dog out on long walks in provincial parks or just hiking. I also love traveling, in fact, my favourite place in the world is Versailles, France! This is because I’m intrigued by Marie-Antoinette and the French Revolution.
Platform
My platform is to raise awareness for special needs children in school environments. We all know that the transition from elementary school to high school can be very frightening for any child, but when you’re a child with special needs, I believe that this transition becomes even more challenging. My brother was diagnosed with the autism spectrum disorder at a very young age and as such, I know first hand what it’s like to be categorized as “different”. In fact, children with special needs as a result of physical, emotional, intellectual or learning disabilities can be severely affected in their ability to participate fully in society. It is for this reason, that I believe that educating and raising awareness in high school environments can significantly improve current conditions.
On May 25th, 2012 I leave for India. Seeing as I was only two years old the last time I visited, I am super excited (to say the least)! I hope to learn a lot and obtain many loving memories with family and friends. (Stay tuned for some pictures from India!).
My first post on the 2012 Miss Teen Canada Blog Network was sponsored by a durable Toronto roof repair system, plus Direct Buy Toronto along with a very stylish outdoor furniture sets importer.
On a final note, I can honestly say that I am exceptionally thrilled for what Toronto and the National pageant hold in store! I cannot wait to share my story and to meet all the fantastic delegates from all across Canada!
Love,
Megha xo
